Hello everyone,

to make it quit I wish to swith my radios from WinOS to my new CentOs server.
I have been running them for about a year+

But now time for a new challenge. Moving to Unix environement.
I have read a few 20 pages or so on various unix configuration tutorial on various forums but can't find my info

I have setup the sc_serv and .conf file as well as the sc_trans and .conf file

but when I start the process sc_serv with & i still not get the hands back on my ssh console.
I wish to start i like /shoutcast/sc_serv /shoutcast/sc_serv.conf &
I also saw an eding command like this :  /dev/null >2&1& &  but I still do not get back to my console and the process in background.

I am willing to offer a free 128kbit channel to the one who will help me with my setup.

I have to say that I am fairly new to Linux so I know the basics only...

I need to be able to run about 5 to 10 radios on the same server, the mp3 residing locally.
sc_trans or anything else that can run on command line is fine with me.

let me know

Martin

Try running this:
nohup /shoutcast/sc_serv /shoutcast/sc_serv.conf > /dev/null &
sc_trans works for basic mp3 streaming, and it's the easies to set up, but if you really want to get into linux streaming, I'd be glad to help you out a bit with 'ices'.

Oh, and if you want to have the shoutcast server(s) start when the server starts, I normally edit my crontab and add something like:
@reboot /shoutcast/sc_serv > /dev/null &

Just wanted to add my 2 cents that it makes sense to use a control panel to make life much easier if you have multiple streams.
